Your Hosts: Al & Sheila Carter

on the spectacular South West Coast
of Vancouver Island!
(just a 45 minute drive from Victoria)

Originally built in the 1940's, you will find Willow Cottage tucked under a huge weeping willow tree. Extensively renovated and tastefully decorated in 2000, Willow Cottage offers a romantic retreat or relaxing private getaway.

You will feel the tranquility of this peaceful place as soon as you enter. The cozy sitting-room offers TV/VCR/DVD, gas-fireplace and comfortable sofabed for extra guests - the perfect spot to relax after a day on the trails. The well equipped kitchenette has a breakfast bar and separate dining-area - also a gas BBQ under the willow where you can cook up your catch and dine "el fresco" if you prefer.

Forget the city and daily commute as you soothe your soul in the marble corner jacuzzi-for-two. To create the relaxing atmosphere of the queen size bedroom we added a vaulted ceiling & french-doors leading out to a private, screened, flagstone patio overlooking the garden - shaded by graceful willow branches.

Note: Ceiling fans and electric baseboard-heaters are installed to ensure a comfortable stay whatever the season. Washer/Dryer is provided for your convenience.

Join us for a full, cooked, traditional breakfast (or your choice from a lighter menu ) - by the fireside in the main house breakfast room, dine outside on the terrace weather permitting, or self-cater if you prefer.
Breakfast time is your choice up until 10 a.m.

Willow Cottage & Whiffin Spit Lodge B&B are located just one mile from Whiffin Spit Beach, Sooke Village Centre and world-renowned Sooke Harbour House.  A 5-minute walk to Sooke Harbour Marina - whale watching and fishing charters arranged. Three resident pods of Orcas visit us here in Sooke/Juan de Fuca Strait - traditionally from May until October.  In the fall we are excited to see the return of the Humpbacks to the waters off Sooke after a thirty year absence and also occasionally transient Grey Whales pay us a surprise visit. Sea Lions, Seals, Dolphins and Harbour Porpoise are common sights.  For Bird Watchers we have a new experience in spring 2007 with regular marine 2 - 2 1/2 hour marine birding trips - the zodiac trip from Sooke Harbour to Race Rocks Marine Protected Area is a birders paradise.  You can give yourself a life long memorable experience with West Coast Wildlife Adventures  -  Captain Jeff Lorton is one of the most experienced professional marine wildlife guides in the Pacific Northwest - he is passionate about the Juan de Fuca marine ecosystem and is active in marine wildlife stewardship. You can check out his website at www.westcoastwhales.ca for birding or whale watching trips.  You can take a peek at Race Rocks (part of your trip) on live web-cam at www.racerocks.com  From the B&B you can take a casual 10 minute walk to the Government Wharf or 5 minutes to Jock's Dock for fresh local crab.

We are close to many natural beaches and surrounded by the rugged, pristine beauty of the Ocean, Mountains, Hiking & Biking Trails, Rain Forests & Natural Harbours. Please check out our main website at: www.whiffinspitlodge.com for detailed information. We are happy to help you plan your day if you wish - there are endless possibilities depending on how energetic (or not!) you are feeling! Bike and Kayak Rentals are easily arranged.
